Rocklatan®
(netarsudil and latanoprost ophthalmic solution) 0.02%/0.005%
Rocklatan is an eye drop used to lower high eye pressure in people with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. By lowering the pressure in your eye, Rocklatan helps protect your optic nerve and can prevent vision loss.
How to Use Rocklatan
Use one drop of Rocklatan in the affected eye(s) once a day, in the evening.
If you miss a dose, just take your next dose at the regular time. Don't take two doses in one day.
If you are using other eye drops, wait at least five minutes between using Rocklatan and other medications.
Common Side Effects
Some people may experience side effects while using Rocklatan. The most common ones are:
Redness in the eyes
Mild eye discomfort
Blurred vision
Itching or watery eyes
If these side effects are mild, they often go away after a short time. If you have any serious side effects or ongoing discomfort, contact your doctor.
Important Information
Changes in Eye Color: Rocklatan may cause your eye color (iris) to darken over time. This change could be permanent.
Eyelash Changes: You may notice longer, thicker, or darker eyelashes. These changes usually go away after stopping the medicine.
Eye Swelling (Macular Edema): If you are at risk for swelling in the back of the eye, tell your doctor before using Rocklatan.
Using Contact Lenses: Take out your contact lenses before using Rocklatan. You can put them back in 15 minutes after applying the drops.
How Rocklatan Works
Rocklatan contains two medicines: netarsudil and latanoprost. Together, they help your eye drain fluid better through two different pathways:
Netarsudil helps open the main drainage system in your eye.
Latanoprost increases the fluid flow through another pathway in the eye.
By improving fluid drainage, Rocklatan helps lower eye pressure and protects your vision.

How Rocklatan Works (In-Depth)
Rocklatan combines two powerful agents—netarsudil and latanoprost—which work in complementary ways to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) by enhancing the eye’s ability to drain excess fluid.
Netarsudil is a Rho kinase inhibitor that increases fluid outflow through the trabecular meshwork, the eye's primary drainage system. This pathway is often compromised in patients with glaucoma, leading to increased pressure. Netarsudil relaxes the smooth muscles and cells in the trabecular meshwork, allowing more fluid to flow out and lowering IOP.
Latanoprost is a prostaglandin analog that primarily increases the outflow of aqueous humor through the uveoscleral pathway, a secondary drainage route. By improving this drainage, latanoprost further reduces IOP.
Together, netarsudil and latanoprost provide a dual mechanism of action: one focuses on the primary drainage system (trabecular meshwork), and the other enhances the secondary outflow (uveoscleral pathway), making Rocklatan highly effective in lowering eye pressure.
If you're exploring other options, Vyzulta and Simbrinza are also commonly prescribed for managing intraocular pressure and glaucoma.
